To change the blades, first ensure the mower is on a flat surface and the engine is off. Lift the mower deck and secure it. Use a wrench to loosen the blade bolts, then remove the blades. Replace with new blades, ensuring they are properly aligned, and tighten the bolts securely.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, replacing air and fuel filters, inspecting and sharpening blades, checking tire pressure, and cleaning the mower deck. Refer to the owner's manual for specific intervals.
If the mower won't start, check the battery connections and charge the battery if necessary. Ensure the fuel valve is open and the fuel tank has fuel. Check the spark plugs and replace if worn. Verify that the safety switches are engaged.
To enhance cutting performance, regularly sharpen blades, clean the mower deck to prevent grass buildup, adjust the cutting height according to lawn conditions, and ensure the engine is running at full throttle.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced blades or debris stuck in the mower deck. Check the blades for damage or imbalance and clean the deck thoroughly. Ensure all bolts and fasteners are tight.
To adjust tracking, use the tracking adjustment bolts located on the control levers. Adjust them incrementally and test drive the mower to ensure it moves straight. Make further adjustments as needed.
John Deere recommends using clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content.
Engine oil should be checked before each use and changed after the first 8 hours of operation, then every 50 hours or annually, whichever comes first. Refer to the owner's manual for specific oil recommendations.
For storage, clean the mower, change the oil, and add a fuel stabilizer to the tank. Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the mower to protect it from dust and debris.
Uneven cutting may be due to an unlevel mower deck. Check and adjust the deck level according to the manual. Also, ensure blades are sharp and properly installed. Adjust tire pressure if necessary.
