John Deere W36M Operator's Manual

To start the John Deere W36M Mower, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the fuel valve is open. Move the throttle to the 'fast' position, turn the key to the 'start' position, and release it once the engine starts.
To change the oil, run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up, then shut it off. Remove the oil drain plug and drain the old oil. Replace the plug, remove the oil filter, and install a new one. Refill with the recommended oil type and amount.
Adjust the cutting height by moving the height-of-cut lever located near the wheels. Select the desired height setting and ensure it's consistent on all four corners of the mower for an even cut.
If the mower won't start, check the fuel level, battery charge, and spark plug condition. Ensure all safety switches are engaged and the PTO is off. If necessary, consult the manual for further troubleshooting steps.
To sharpen the blades, remove them from the mower and use a grinder or file to restore the cutting edge. Balance the blades to prevent vibration and reinstall them securely. Always wear protective gear when handling sharp tools.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, cleaning air filters, inspecting belts and blades, checking tire pressure, and lubricating moving parts. Follow the maintenance schedule in the operator's manual.
Uneven cutting can be caused by dull blades, incorrect tire pressure, or uneven terrain. Check and sharpen the blades, adjust the tire pressure, and ensure the mower deck is level for a uniform cut.
Always wear appropriate protective gear, keep bystanders away, and operate the mower at a safe speed. Avoid mowing on wet grass and steep slopes. Familiarize yourself with all controls before use.
After use, remove grass clippings and debris from the mower deck using a brush or air blower. Clean the underside of the deck with water, being careful not to soak any electrical components. Dry thoroughly before storage.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced blades, loose parts, or debris lodged in the mower. Check for these issues and resolve them by balancing blades, tightening bolts, and clearing debris.
