To start the John Deere JS63 Vario, ensure the fuel valve is open, the throttle is in the choke position, and the safety bar is held down. Then, pull the starter cord briskly.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 40°F (4°C) and SAE 5W-30 or 10W-30 for temperatures below 40°F (4°C) to ensure optimal engine performance.
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected properly, inspect the air filter for clogs, and make sure the safety bar is engaged. Clean or replace parts as necessary.
To adjust the cutting height, use the height adjustment levers located on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired position for the preferred cutting height.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, cleaning or replacing the air filter, sharpening the blade, and checking the spark plug.
To clean the mower deck, ensure the engine is off and the spark plug is disconnected. Tilt the mower safely and use a brush or hose to remove grass clippings and debris. Avoid using high-pressure water.
Check the drive cable tension and adjust if necessary. Inspect the belt for wear and replace if needed. Ensure the drive control lever is fully engaged.
Maintain a clean air filter, keep the mower blade sharp, and ensure the tire pressure is adequate. Regular maintenance and using fresh, clean fuel also contribute to better fuel efficiency.
Always wear protective eyewear, avoid mowing on wet grass, keep hands and feet away from moving parts, and never leave the mower running unattended.
To replace the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug wire, use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug, and install a new plug with the correct gap. Reattach the spark plug wire securely.
