The recommended engine oil for the John Deere 60G Excavator is John Deere PLUS-50 II or an equivalent oil that meets API CJ-4 specifications.
Daily maintenance checks should include inspecting hydraulic fluid levels, checking for leaks, examining the condition of the tracks, and ensuring all bolts and nuts are secure.
If the engine fails to start, check the battery connections, ensure there is enough fuel, verify the fuel filter is not clogged, and inspect the starter motor.
The hydraulic filter should be replaced every 500 hours of operation or as specified in the operator's manual.
To adjust track tension, lift the track off the ground, loosen the jam nut on the track adjuster, and turn the adjuster valve to achieve the desired tension. Tighten the jam nut once adjusted.
Check the coolant level, inspect the radiator for blockages, examine the fan belt tension, and ensure the radiator cap is functioning properly.
To winterize, ensure the coolant is adequate for freezing temperatures, change the engine oil to a winter-grade oil, and store the battery in a warm place if the machine will not be used.
Calibrate the hydraulic system by following the manufacturer's procedure, which generally includes warming the system, setting the control lever to neutral, and using diagnostic tools to adjust settings.
For extended storage, clean the machine thoroughly, lubricate all grease points, drain fuel or add a stabilizer, disconnect the battery, and cover the machine to protect from elements.
To change the air filter, open the engine compartment, remove the air filter cover, take out the old filter, and install a new filter ensuring it is seated correctly. Close the cover securely.
