The recommended maintenance schedule includes checking the engine oil and air filter every 25 hours of operation, sharpening the blades every 50 hours, and performing a full service every 100 hours or annually, whichever comes first.
If the mower won't start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly connected, and verify that the air filter is not clogged. Also, check for any blown fuses or disconnected wires.
Use SAE 10W-30 oil for the John Deere 52-PRO S K A Plus, C52KS under most conditions, and switch to SAE 5W-30 for colder temperatures below 32°F (0°C).
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers near each wheel. Move the levers to the desired position, ensuring all four levers are set to the same height for an even cut.
Check if the blades are sharp and properly aligned. Inspect the deck for any clogging and ensure that the tire pressure is even on all wheels. Adjust the deck if necessary to ensure it is level.
To clean the deck, first, ensure the mower is turned off and the spark plug is disconnected. Use a garden hose to rinse off grass clippings and debris, or use a scraper tool for more persistent buildup.
For winterizing, empty the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil, clean the mower thoroughly, and store it in a dry place. Disconnect the battery and store it separately if possible.
To replace the air filter, remove the cover of the air filter compartment, take out the old filter, and insert a new one of the same type. Ensure the cover is securely fastened after replacement.
Excessive vibration may be caused by unbalanced blades, loose bolts, or worn-out engine mounts. Check these components and tighten or replace them as necessary.
Ensure the blades are sharp and properly installed. Check for any debris blocking the deck or discharge chute and inspect the blade speed. Adjust the mowing speed and overlap passes if necessary.
