John Deere 48C Operator's Manual

To adjust the cutting height on a John Deere 48C Mower, locate the height adjustment lever on the mower deck. Move the lever to the desired position, ensuring both sides are set to the same height for even mowing.
First, safely disconnect the spark plug. Remove the mower deck and then the blades. Use a grinder or a file to sharpen the blades, maintaining the original angle. Reinstall them securely after sharpening.
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected, and inspect the air filter for clogs. If the mower still won't start, consider checking the battery and ignition system.
Regularly check and change the oil, clean or replace the air filter, inspect the spark plug, and sharpen the blades. Additionally, lubricate moving parts and check the tire pressure.
Ensure the mower is turned off and the spark plug is disconnected. Remove the mower deck, then carefully remove the old belt. Install the new belt following the routing diagram provided in the manual.
Check for debris lodged in the deck and ensure the blades are balanced and not bent. Tighten any loose bolts or components on the deck and inspect the spindle assembly for wear.
This could be due to dull blades or an uneven deck. Sharpen the blades and level the deck according to the manual specifications to ensure even cutting.
It is recommended to change the oil after every 50 hours of use or at least once per mowing season for optimal engine performance.
Refer to the owner's manual for the recommended oil type, but generally, SAE 10W-30 is suitable for most climates, ensuring it meets API service classifications.
Clean the mower thoroughly, drain the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil, and remove the battery. Store the mower in a dry place and cover it to protect it from dust and moisture.
