To change the oil, first warm up the engine for a few minutes. Turn off the engine and place a pan under the oil drain plug. Remove the plug and let the oil drain completely. Replace the plug and refill with the recommended oil type and capacity.
Check the battery connections for corrosion and ensure they are tight. Verify that the fuel is fresh and the fuel filter is clean. Inspect the spark plug for wear and replace if necessary.
Regular maintenance should be performed every 50 hours of operation or at least once a season. This includes checking the oil, filters, belts, and other critical components.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87. Avoid ethanol blends higher than 10% to prevent engine damage.
Check the tire pressure to ensure it is equal on all sides. Inspect the mower deck for levelness and adjust if necessary. Make sure the blades are sharp and not damaged.
Check the transmission fluid level and top off if needed. Inspect the drive belt for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Ensure that the linkage is properly adjusted.
Keep the battery terminals clean and free of corrosion. Store the tractor in a dry place and disconnect the battery if not in use for extended periods. Consider using a battery maintainer.
Open the hood and locate the air filter housing. Remove the cover and take out the old air filter. Insert a new air filter and secure the cover back in place.
Locate the cutting height adjustment lever, usually found on the side of the mower deck. Move the lever to the desired height setting. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height.
Clean the tractor thoroughly to remove debris. Change the oil and filter, and fill the fuel tank with stabilized fuel. Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place.
