To change the oil, run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up, then turn it off. Place an oil pan under the engine and remove the drain plug. Allow the oil to drain completely, replace the drain plug, and refill with the recommended oil type and quantity.
First, check the battery connections to ensure they are tight. Verify that the battery is charged. Check the fuel level and ensure the fuel valve is open. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if necessary.
Remove the mower deck and secure the blades. Use a grinder or a sharpening stone to sharpen the edges, maintaining the original angle. Balance the blade to prevent vibration and reinstall it carefully.
Use regular unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content.
The air filter should be checked every 25 hours of operation and replaced every 100 hours or annually, whichever comes first. Replace more frequently if operating in dusty conditions.
Check the tire sidewalls or the operator's manual for the recommended tire pressure. Generally, the front tires should be inflated to 14 psi and the rear tires to 10 psi.
Ensure the mower deck is level by checking the tire pressure, examining the blades for sharpness and damage, and adjusting the deck height as necessary. Clean any debris from the underside of the deck.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil and fuel filter, add a fuel stabilizer to the tank, and disconnect the battery. Store in a dry place and cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
Locate the deck lift lever on the right fender. Move the lever to the desired height setting. Ensure both sides of the deck are level by measuring from the blade tip to the ground and adjusting the deck lift links if necessary.
Common signs include difficulty starting, engine misfiring, poor fuel economy, and reduced power. Inspect the spark plug for carbon buildup or damage and replace it if necessary.
