To start the Husqvarna Snow Thrower HST120, ensure the fuel valve is open, the choke is engaged, and the throttle is set to fast. Pull the starter handle or use the electric start button if available.
Use clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using ethanol blends greater than E10.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then after every 25 hours of use or at the beginning of each snow season.
Turn off the engine and wait for all moving parts to stop. Use a clean-out tool or stick to clear the chute. Never use your hands.
Check for clogs in the chute and ensure the auger is not damaged. Also, verify that the engine is running at full throttle.
Regularly inspect the auger and impeller for damage or wear. Lubricate bearings as per the user manual and replace any damaged parts.
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is clean and connected, make sure the safety key is inserted, and inspect the choke and throttle settings.
Consider using tire chains or weights to improve traction on icy or slippery surfaces.
Drain the fuel or add a stabilizer, change the oil, clean the machine, and store it in a dry, covered location. Disconnect the spark plug wire to prevent accidental starting.
Loosen the skid shoe bolts and adjust them to the desired height, ensuring they are even on both sides. Tighten the bolts securely after adjustment.
