To change the oil, first run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up. Turn it off and remove the ignition key. Place a container under the oil drain valve, open the valve, and allow the oil to drain completely. Replace the oil filter and refill the engine with new oil, checking the dipstick for the correct level.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid gasoline containing more than 10% ethanol, as it can cause engine damage.
Check the battery charge and ensure the terminals are clean and tight. Verify that the fuel valve is open, and the fuel filter is clean. Inspect the spark plug and replace it if it's worn or damaged.
The air filter should be checked after every 25 hours of use and replaced at least once per season or more frequently in dusty conditions.
Ensure the blades are sharp and properly balanced. Check for any buildup of grass clippings under the deck. Adjust the tire pressure and check the deck level to ensure it is even.
After mowing, safely lift the mower and use a garden hose to spray off grass clippings and debris. For stubborn debris, use a scraper or brush. Ensure the mower is off, and the spark plug is disconnected before cleaning.
The recommended tire pressure is usually around 15 PSI for the front tires and 10 PSI for the rear tires. Refer to the owner’s manual for specific details.
Clean the battery terminals regularly and ensure they are tight. Charge the battery fully before storage, and disconnect it if storing for long periods. Store in a cool, dry place.
Ensure the throttle is set to full speed and pull the blade engagement lever or PTO switch to the 'on' position to engage the blades.
Check for debris or buildup around the blades and under the deck. Ensure the blades are balanced and securely attached. Inspect the belts for wear and replace if necessary.
