To start the Husqvarna H545 chainsaw, make sure the chain brake is engaged. Set the saw on a flat surface, turn the ignition on, pull the choke out, and then pull the starter handle until the engine fires. Push the choke in halfway and pull again until the engine starts.
To tension the chain, loosen the bar nuts slightly, turn the tensioning screw until the chain is tight against the bar, and then lift the tip of the bar to check tension. Tighten the bar nuts and ensure the chain moves freely.
The air filter should be cleaned after every 10 hours of use or more frequently in dusty conditions. Remove the filter, gently tap it to remove debris, wash with soapy water, rinse, and allow it to dry before reinstalling.
If your chainsaw won't start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is functioning, inspect the air filter for blockages, and verify that the choke is being used correctly.
Use a high-quality unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 89, mixed with a high-quality 2-stroke oil at a ratio of 50:1.
Use a round file and file guide to sharpen each cutter. File at a 30-degree angle following the factory bevel and ensure all cutters are the same length.
Clean the chainsaw, check for any loose nuts and bolts, inspect the chain tension, clean the air filter and cooling fins, and ensure the chain brake is functioning properly.
Regularly clean the air intake and cooling fins to ensure proper airflow. Avoid running the saw at full throttle for extended periods without allowing it to cool.
If the chain smokes, check the chain tension, ensure the chain is sharp, and verify the bar and chain oil is being properly applied.
Drain the fuel tank, clean the chainsaw thoroughly, remove the chain and bar, and store them in a dry, safe place. Consider using a protective cover.
