To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment lever on the mower. Move the lever to the desired position, ensuring that all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
First, check the fuel level and ensure the fuel valve is open. Verify that the spark plug is clean and properly connected. Also, make sure the choke is in the correct position and the battery is charged if applicable.
It is recommended to change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then every 25 hours of operation or at least once a season.
Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid gasoline with more than 10% ethanol to prevent engine damage.
Regularly inspect the blades for damage or wear. Sharpen them as needed using a file or sharpening tool. Ensure the blades are properly balanced to prevent vibration and potential damage.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced blades, loose parts, or debris stuck in the cutting deck. Check these areas and tighten any loose parts. Clean the deck and balance the blades if necessary.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and gently clean it with compressed air or replace it if it's too dirty. Ensure the filter is dry before reinstalling it.
To winterize the mower, drain the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil, clean the mower thoroughly, and store it in a dry, sheltered area. Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place if applicable.
Uneven cutting can be due to an uneven tire pressure, incorrect deck level, or damaged blades. Check and correct the tire pressure, adjust the deck height, and inspect the blades for damage or dullness.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level before each use, inspecting and cleaning the air filter every 25 hours, sharpening or replacing blades as needed, and performing a full inspection and service at least once per season.
