Ensure the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is adequate. Engage the parking brake, set the throttle to the 'Start' position, and turn the ignition key to start the engine.
Check the fuel level and quality, ensure the spark plug is clean and connected, and verify that the air filter is not clogged.
Warm up the engine, remove the oil drain plug, and allow the old oil to drain completely. Replace the drain plug, refill with new oil, and check the oil level with the dipstick.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87 and avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content.
Sharpen the mower blades every 25 hours of use or at the beginning of each mowing season for the best performance.
Check that the mower deck is level, ensure the blades are sharp, and verify that the tires are inflated evenly.
Use a garden hose to wash off grass clippings and debris from the mower deck. Avoid using high-pressure water, which can damage components.
Raise the cutting height and mow at a slower speed. You may need to make multiple passes to achieve a clean cut.
Clean the mower, remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place, and add a fuel stabilizer to the gas tank before storing. Cover the mower to protect it from dust and moisture.
Regularly check and change the oil, clean or replace the air filter, inspect and replace the spark plug if necessary, and sharpen the blades. Keep the mower deck clean and check tire pressure.
