Ensure the mower is on a flat surface, check the oil and fuel levels, and make sure the spark plug is connected. Turn the ignition key to start the engine.
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is not dirty or damaged, and make sure the air filter is clean. If the problem persists, consult the user manual or contact a service professional.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then after every 25 hours of use or at least once per mowing season.
Use clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87. Avoid using ethanol blends higher than 10%.
Regularly sharpen the mower blades, maintain proper tire pressure, and mow when the grass is dry to achieve better cutting performance.
Clean the mower deck, change the oil, replace the air filter, inspect and clean the spark plug, and remove any fuel from the tank if storing for the winter.
Locate the height adjustment levers on the mower deck, and move them to the desired position to adjust the cutting height uniformly on all wheels.
Check the air filter for dirt or blockage, ensure the fuel is fresh, and inspect the spark plug for wear or damage. Cleaning or replacing these components can often resolve engine roughness.
After each use, turn off the mower and disconnect the spark plug. Use a hose to rinse off grass clippings and debris from the underside of the deck, and scrape away any stubborn buildup with a plastic scraper.
Inspect the mower blades for damage or imbalance, check for loose or missing bolts on the engine and deck, and ensure the tires are inflated evenly.
