Honda recommends using SAE 10W-40, API service classification SG or higher, JASO T 903 MA standard engine oil for the XR650L 2015.
The air filter should be checked and cleaned every 3,000 miles (4,800 km), and replaced if damaged or excessively dirty.
The recommended tire pressure is 22 psi for the front tire and 25 psi for the rear tire when riding solo.
First, ensure the battery is charged and the fuel is fresh. Check the spark plug for wear or fouling, and inspect the fuel lines for blockages. If the problem persists, consult a professional mechanic.
Use a high-quality ethylene glycol-based antifreeze with corrosion inhibitors specifically for aluminum engines. Honda recommends using a 50/50 mix with distilled water.
To adjust the chain tension, place the motorcycle on a stand, loosen the axle nut, adjust the tensioners evenly on both sides, and ensure the chain has about 1.4 to 2.0 inches of slack. Tighten the axle nut once adjusted.
The fuel tank capacity of the Honda XR650L 2015 is 2.8 gallons (10.6 liters), including 0.6 gallons (2.3 liters) in reserve.
Valve clearance should be checked and adjusted if necessary every 4,000 miles (6,400 km) to ensure optimal engine performance.
If overheating, stop the motorcycle, let it cool, check the coolant level, and inspect for leaks. Ensure the radiator is not obstructed. If the issue persists, consult a mechanic.
Regularly check brake fluid levels, inspect brake pads for wear, and ensure brake lines are free of leaks. Replace brake pads when worn beyond the service limit and bleed the brake system if air is suspected in the lines.
