Honda XR650L 2014 Operation Guide

The recommended oil type for the 2014 Honda XR650L is SAE 10W-40, Pro Honda GN4 4-stroke oil or equivalent that meets or exceeds API service classification SG or higher.
It is recommended to change the oil every 2,000 miles or at least once a year, whichever comes first. Always refer to the owner's manual for specific maintenance schedules.
The recommended tire pressure for the Honda XR650L is 22 psi for the front tire and 25 psi for the rear tire. Always check the tire pressure when the tires are cold.
To adjust the chain tension, place the bike on a stand, loosen the rear axle nut, and adjust the chain adjusters evenly on both sides until the chain slack is within 1.4 to 1.8 inches. Tighten the axle nut securely after adjustment.
The recommended spark plug for the XR650L is NGK DPR8EA-9 or equivalent. Ensure the spark plug gap is set to 0.031 - 0.035 inches.
If the XR650L won't start, check the fuel level, ensure the kill switch is in the run position, check the battery charge, inspect the spark plug, and verify the fuel valve is in the ON position.
The valve clearance for the XR650L should be 0.004 inches for the intake valves and 0.005 inches for the exhaust valves. It's important to measure and adjust these clearances when the engine is cold.
To maintain the air filter, remove the side cover, take out the air filter, and clean it with a non-flammable solvent. Allow it to dry completely, then apply air filter oil before reinstalling. Replace the filter if it's damaged.
If the battery keeps dying, check for loose or corroded battery connections, inspect the charging system, and ensure the battery is holding a charge. Consider replacing the battery if it's more than 3 years old.
To store the XR650L for winter, add fuel stabilizer to a full tank, change the oil and filter, remove the battery and keep it charged, cover the motorcycle, and store it in a dry, cool place.
