Honda VT1300CX Fury 2012 Operation Guide

To check the oil level, first ensure the motorcycle is on a level surface. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes, then turn it off. Wait a couple of minutes, remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, reinsert it without screwing it in, and then remove it again to check the level. The oil should be between the upper and lower marks on the dipstick.
Honda recommends using 10W-30 or 10W-40 motorcycle oil that meets the JASO T 903 standard for the VT1300CX Fury 2012.
The air filter should be inspected and potentially replaced every 12,000 miles or 19,000 kilometers. However, if you ride in dusty conditions, consider inspecting and cleaning it more frequently.
To adjust the clutch, locate the clutch cable adjuster at the handlebar. Loosen the lock nut and turn the adjuster to achieve the proper free play of about 10-20mm at the lever. Tighten the lock nut once the adjustment is correct.
If your motorcycle is not starting, first check the battery connections for corrosion or looseness. Ensure the kill switch is in the 'run' position. Verify that the fuel valve is open and there is sufficient fuel. If the issue persists, check the fuse box for blown fuses and inspect the starter relay.
The recommended tire pressure is 36 psi for the front tire and 41 psi for the rear tire. Always check the pressure when the tires are cold for the most accurate readings.
The rear suspension on the Fury is adjustable for preload. To adjust, remove the side cover to access the shock absorber. Use the preload adjuster tool to turn the adjuster and increase or decrease preload according to your preference for a softer or firmer ride.
Spongy brakes can be caused by air in the brake lines. Bleed the brakes to remove any trapped air. Check for leaks in the brake lines and ensure that the brake fluid is at the correct level. Replace the brake fluid if it appears contaminated.
To improve fuel efficiency, ensure regular maintenance such as replacing the air filter and spark plugs according to the service schedule. Maintain proper tire pressure, avoid excessive idling, and ride at a steady pace. Using the recommended grade of fuel can also help.
For winter storage, clean the motorcycle thoroughly to remove dirt and grime. Add a fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank and run the engine for a few minutes. Change the oil and filter, and lubricate the chain and cables. Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place, and cover the motorcycle with a breathable cover.
