To properly break in the Honda TRX680FA5, avoid full-throttle starts and rapid acceleration for the first 15 hours of operation. Keep the engine speed varied and avoid prolonged idling. Gradually increase the ATV's load and speed.
It is recommended to change the engine oil and filter every 100 hours, 600 miles, or once a year, whichever comes first. However, more frequent oil changes may be necessary if the ATV is used in severe conditions.
Honda recommends using Pro Honda GN4 or HP4 4-stroke oil, or an equivalent high-quality motorcycle oil, with an SAE viscosity rating of 10W-30 or 10W-40.
If the ATV won't start, check the battery for charge and connections, inspect the spark plug for wear or fouling, ensure the fuel is fresh, and verify that the starter motor is functioning.
The recommended tire pressure is 3.6 psi (25 kPa) for the front tires and 2.9 psi (20 kPa) for the rear tires. Always check the pressure when the tires are cold.
Regular maintenance includes checking and cleaning the air filter, inspecting brakes, lubricating pivot points, checking fluid levels, and tightening all nuts and bolts to the specified torque values.
If the ATV overheats, stop and turn off the engine immediately. Allow it to cool down, then check the coolant level and for any leaks. Inspect the radiator for blockages and ensure the fan is operational.
To adjust the suspension, use the preload adjuster to modify the spring tension according to your weight and riding conditions. Refer to the owner's manual for specific settings and procedures.
Common electrical issues include a dead battery, blown fuses, and faulty connections. Ensure the battery is charged, replace blown fuses, and inspect all wiring and connectors for damage or corrosion.
To winterize the ATV, clean it thoroughly, change the oil, add fuel stabilizer, remove the battery and store it in a cool dry place, and cover the ATV to protect it from the elements.
