Honda recommends using Pro Honda GN4 4-stroke oil or an equivalent high-quality 4-stroke oil with a viscosity of SAE 10W-30 for the TRX500FM1.
It is recommended to change the oil every 100 hours of operation or at least once a year. Regular oil changes are crucial for maintaining engine health.
The recommended tire pressure is 3.6 psi for the front tires and 3.6 psi for the rear tires. Always check tire pressure when the tires are cold.
First, check the battery connections and ensure they are clean and secure. Verify the battery charge level. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Ensure that the fuel is fresh and the fuel line is not clogged.
To adjust the chain tension, first, loosen the rear axle nuts. Adjust the tensioner bolts evenly on both sides until the chain has about 1 inch of slack. Retighten the axle nuts and ensure the chain is properly aligned.
Regularly check the brake fluid level and top up with DOT 4 brake fluid if necessary. Inspect brake pads for wear and replace them if they are below the minimum thickness. Ensure the brake lines are free from leaks and damage.
First, stop the engine and allow it to cool. Check the coolant level and refill if necessary. Inspect the radiator for blockages and clean any debris. Ensure the cooling fan is functioning correctly.
Remove the seat and locate the air filter cover. Remove the cover and take out the old air filter. Insert the new air filter, ensuring it is seated properly, and replace the cover and seat.
Perform regular maintenance every 100 hours or annually, including oil changes, air filter replacement, brake inspection, and coolant level checks. Refer to the owner’s manual for a detailed maintenance schedule.
To improve fuel efficiency, keep the ATV well-maintained by ensuring regular servicing. Use the recommended engine oil, keep tires properly inflated, and avoid carrying unnecessary weight. Operate the ATV at moderate speeds to conserve fuel.
