To properly break-in the engine, avoid full throttle starts and rapid acceleration for the first 15 hours of operation. Vary the engine speed and avoid prolonged operation at any one speed.
Honda recommends using 10W-30 API classification SJ or later oil. Ensure it is specifically designed for 4-stroke engines.
Check the battery connections and ensure they are tight. Verify the battery charge and inspect the fuel level. Make sure the kill switch is not engaged and the ATV is in neutral.
The air filter should be inspected every 100 hours of operation or 6 months, whichever comes first. Replace it if it is excessively dirty or damaged.
The recommended tire pressure is 3.6 psi for the front tires and 3.6 psi for the rear tires. Always check the pressure when the tires are cold.
Regularly inspect the drive shaft boots for cracks or damage and apply grease to the universal joints every 600 miles or 100 hours.
Stop the vehicle immediately and allow the engine to cool. Check the coolant level and inspect for leaks. Ensure the radiator is clean and not blocked by debris.
To adjust the idle speed, use the idle adjustment screw located on the carburetor. Turn it clockwise to increase and counterclockwise to decrease the idle speed.
To change the transmission fluid, remove the drain bolt and drain the old fluid. Reinstall the drain bolt and refill with the recommended type and amount of transmission fluid.
Brake pads should be inspected every 100 hours or 6 months. Replace them if the thickness is less than the specified minimum or if they are worn unevenly.
