The Honda TRX250TM FourTrax Recon 2017 ATV requires 10W-30 or 10W-40 motorcycle oil for optimal performance. It is recommended to use a high-quality oil designed for wet clutches.
Oil changes should be performed every 600 miles or every 100 hours of operation, whichever comes first, to ensure the engine runs smoothly.
The recommended tire pressure for the Honda TRX250TM FourTrax Recon 2017 is 3.6 psi for the front tires and 2.9 psi for the rear tires. Always check tire pressure when the tires are cold.
To adjust the idle speed, locate the idle adjustment screw near the carburetor and turn it clockwise to increase the idle speed or counterclockwise to decrease it. The idle speed should be set to around 1,400 RPM.
If the ATV won't start, check the battery connections, ensure the fuel valve is on, inspect the spark plug for fouling, and make sure the kill switch is in the 'run' position.
Remove the seat and the air filter cover, then take out the air filter element. Wash it with a mild detergent and water, allow it to dry completely, and apply air filter oil before reinstalling.
To check the brake fluid level, locate the brake fluid reservoir on the handlebar. Ensure the ATV is on a level surface and the fluid level is between the upper and lower marks on the reservoir.
Before storing, clean the ATV thoroughly, change the oil, add a fuel stabilizer, inflate the tires to the recommended pressure, and disconnect the battery. Store it in a dry, sheltered area.
Start by checking the battery voltage and connections. Inspect fuses and wiring for damage or corrosion. Ensure the ignition switch and handlebar switches are functioning properly.
To replace the spark plug, remove the spark plug cap, use a spark plug wrench to unscrew the old spark plug, and install a new one. Ensure it is properly gapped and tightened to the manufacturer's specifications.
