It is recommended to use SAE 10W-30 or 10W-40, API service classification SJ or later, for the Honda TRX250TE FourTrax Recon ES 2011.
Change the oil every 600 miles, or 100 hours of operation, whichever comes first. It's also a good practice to change the oil filter every time you change the oil.
The recommended tire pressure is 2.9 psi for the front tires and 3.6 psi for the rear tires. Always check the pressure when the tires are cold.
First, check the battery connections and ensure they are clean and tight. Verify that the battery is fully charged. Check the fuel level and ensure the fuel valve is on. Also, inspect the spark plug for fouling or wear and replace if necessary.
To adjust the chain tension, first, loosen the rear axle locknuts. Adjust the chain adjusters evenly on both sides until the chain has about 3/4 inch of slack. Tighten the locknuts and recheck the tension.
Remove the air filter cover and take out the filter. Wash it in soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and let it dry completely. Once dry, apply a light coat of air filter oil before reinstalling it. Ensure the air filter is seated correctly to prevent dirt from entering the engine.
Regular maintenance should be performed every 100 hours or annually, whichever comes first. This includes changing the oil, checking and adjusting valve clearance, inspecting brakes, checking tire pressure, and lubricating moving parts.
Ensure your ATV is well-maintained, including regular oil changes and air filter cleaning. Keep the tires inflated to the recommended pressure and avoid excessive idling. Also, use the recommended grade of fuel and avoid carrying unnecessary weight.
Check the transmission oil level and ensure it is at the correct level. Inspect the shift linkage for any signs of damage or misalignment. Also, check for any error codes that might indicate an electronic issue, and consult the service manual if necessary.
Clean the ATV thoroughly and apply a protective wax. Change the oil and fill the gas tank, adding a fuel stabilizer. Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the ATV with a breathable cover to protect it from dust and moisture.
