To reset the maintenance required light, turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Press the select/reset knob until the engine oil life indicator is displayed. Press the knob again for more than 10 seconds. The engine oil life indicator and the maintenance code will blink. Press the knob for another 5 seconds, and the maintenance code will disappear.
The 2008 Honda Ridgeline is recommended to use 5W-20 viscosity grade oil that meets API certification. It can be either conventional or synthetic oil.
To replace the cabin air filter, open the glove box and remove the damper on the side. Press in on the sides of the glove box to lower it fully. Remove the filter cover and slide out the old filter. Insert the new filter and replace the cover and glove box.
The 2008 Honda Ridgeline has a towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped.
To improve fuel efficiency, ensure regular maintenance such as timely oil changes and air filter replacements. Maintain correct tire pressure, drive at moderate speeds, and avoid excessive idling.
A squealing noise when starting the engine is often caused by a loose or worn-out serpentine belt. Inspect the belt for wear and tension, and replace it if necessary.
To check the transmission fluid level, warm up the engine and park on a level surface. Turn off the engine and remove the dipstick from the transmission. Wipe it clean, reinsert it fully, then remove it again to check the level. Add fluid if necessary.
If the check engine light comes on, first check if the gas cap is properly tightened. If it is secure and the light remains, use an OBD-II scanner to retrieve the error code or take the vehicle to a professional mechanic for diagnosis.
To replace the headlight bulb, open the hood and locate the back of the headlight assembly. Disconnect the electrical connector from the bulb. Remove the rubber weather seal and unclip the bulb retaining spring. Replace with a new bulb, ensuring not to touch the glass, and reassemble.
The recommended tire pressure for the 2008 Honda Ridgeline is 32 psi for both the front and rear tires. Always check the tire pressure when the tires are cold for accurate readings.
