The recommended engine oil for the Honda CB1000R 2016 is SAE 10W-30, API service classification SG or higher. Ensure it is a high-quality oil for motorcycles.
It is recommended to change the engine oil every 8,000 miles (12,800 kilometers) or 12 months, whichever comes first. Check the oil level regularly and top up if necessary.
The recommended tire pressure is 36 psi for the front tire and 42 psi for the rear tire. Always check the tire pressure when the tires are cold.
To adjust the chain tension, place the motorcycle on a stand, loosen the rear axle nut, adjust the tensioning bolts on each side of the swingarm equally, and ensure the chain slack is within 1.2 to 1.6 inches (30-40 mm). Tighten the axle nut securely afterward.
If the motorcycle won't start, check the battery charge, verify the kill switch is in the 'Run' position, ensure the fuel valve is open, and check for any blown fuses. If the issue persists, consult a Honda dealer.
To clean the air filter, remove the seat, unscrew the air filter cover, and gently take out the filter. Use compressed air to clean it gently if it's a reusable type, or replace it if it’s disposable. Reassemble in reverse order.
The recommended brake fluid is DOT 4. Ensure you use a clean, unopened container to avoid contamination. Check the fluid level regularly and top up if necessary.
To adjust the suspension, locate the adjustment screws on the front forks and rear shock. Use the owner's manual to set the preload, rebound, and compression damping according to your preference and riding conditions.
At 12,000 miles, perform an oil and filter change, inspect and adjust the valve clearance, check and adjust the chain tension, inspect the brake pads and fluids, and check the tire condition and pressure.
First, check the headlight bulb and replace it if necessary. Then, inspect the fuse box for any blown fuses. Finally, check the wiring connections for any loose or damaged wires.
