The Henley Stoves Alderwood Stove features a high-efficiency rating, a large glass door for viewing the fire, and an easy-to-use air control system. It is designed for optimal heat output and has a robust construction for durability.
To clean the glass, allow the stove to cool completely. Use a damp cloth and a specialized stove glass cleaner or vinegar solution to wipe the glass. Avoid using abrasive materials that could scratch the surface.
The Alderwood Stove is designed to burn well-seasoned hardwood logs. It is important to use dry wood with a moisture content of less than 20% to ensure maximum efficiency and to reduce soot buildup.
Uneven heat distribution can be resolved by ensuring the air vents are not blocked and are properly adjusted. Also, check that the wood is placed correctly and is of the recommended size and type.
Excessive smoke can be caused by burning wet or unseasoned wood, improper venting, or restricted airflow. Ensure the chimney is clear, and use only dry, seasoned wood.
Regular maintenance should be performed annually, which includes cleaning the flue, checking seals and gaskets, and inspecting for any signs of wear or damage. More frequent checks should be made during heavy use periods.
Ensure the area around the stove is clear of flammable materials, use proper tools when handling the stove, and ensure the flue is open before lighting the fire. Install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors for added safety.
To start a fire, place crumpled newspaper or firelighters at the bottom, add kindling on top, and then larger logs. Open the air vents fully and light the newspaper or firelighters. Once the fire is established, adjust the air controls for desired heat output.
The Alderwood Stove is designed to provide substantial heat output, but whether it can be used as a primary heat source depends on the size of your home and its insulation. Consult with a heating specialist for an assessment.
If the fire goes out, check that there is sufficient fuel and that it is properly arranged. Ensure air vents are open and not obstructed. Relight using the recommended method, and monitor to ensure it remains lit.
