To perform an oil change, warm up the engine, place the bike on a stand, remove the oil drain plug and let the oil drain completely. Replace the oil filter, reinstall the drain plug, and fill with the recommended oil type and quantity. Check for leaks after starting the engine.
The Harley-Davidson Road King Classic 2016 requires DOT 4 brake fluid. Always use a fresh, unopened container to ensure the fluid is free from moisture contamination.
Check the battery connections and ensure they are tight and corrosion-free. Verify the battery charge and replace if necessary. Inspect the starter relay and fuses, and ensure the run/stop switch is in the 'run' position.
The recommended tire pressure for the front tire is 36 psi and for the rear tire is 40 psi. Always check the pressure when the tires are cold.
To adjust the suspension, locate the air valve for the rear shocks and use a hand pump to add or release air. Ensure both shocks are equally pressurized according to your weight and riding preference.
Check the coolant level and top up if necessary. Ensure the radiator is clean and unobstructed. Verify that the cooling fan is operational. Avoid idling for extended periods in hot weather.
Spark plugs should be inspected every 10,000 miles and replaced every 20,000 miles, or sooner if they show signs of wear or fouling.
Use a damp cloth to wipe the bags clean, then apply a leather conditioner to keep the leather supple and prevent cracking. Avoid using harsh chemicals or excessive water.
Maintain proper tire pressure, perform regular maintenance such as oil changes and air filter replacements, and avoid aggressive acceleration. Using high-quality fuel and keeping the engine tuned can also help.
Inspect the fuses related to the lighting system, check the bulb connections, and ensure the battery is properly charged. If necessary, consult the wiring diagram for any potential shorts or disconnections.
