The oil should be changed every 5,000 miles or once a year, whichever comes first. Always use the recommended oil type for optimal performance.
It is recommended to use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 91 (R+M)/2. Avoid ethanol blends higher than E10.
Improving handling can involve several adjustments, such as checking tire pressure, adjusting suspension settings, and ensuring proper weight distribution. Consider consulting with a professional for custom suspension tuning.
First, check the battery for sufficient charge. Ensure the kill switch is in the 'run' position. If these are fine, check the ignition system and fuel delivery. If problems persist, consult a professional mechanic.
To adjust the clutch, locate the clutch cable adjuster, loosen the locknut, and turn the adjuster to achieve the recommended free play of approximately 1/16 to 1/8 inch. Tighten the locknut after adjusting.
The recommended tire pressure for the 2016 Road King is 36 psi for the front tire and 40 psi for the rear tire. Always check the tire pressure when the tires are cold.
To prevent overheating, ensure that the cooling system is functioning correctly, keep the engine oils at proper levels, and avoid prolonged idling. Regular maintenance checks are essential.
Before storing, change the oil and filter, add a fuel stabilizer, inflate tires to the correct pressure, clean and wax the motorcycle, and disconnect the battery if storing for an extended period.
To replace the air filter, remove the air cleaner cover, unscrew the filter element, replace it with a new one, and reattach the cover. Ensure all screws are tightened securely.
During a routine maintenance inspection, check the oil level, tire pressure and tread, brake system, lights, and electrical system. Inspect for any leaks or unusual noises.
