To start the Gravely GLT 400, ensure the PTO is disengaged, the parking brake is set, and the transmission is in neutral. Turn the ignition key to the "Start" position until the engine starts, then release the key.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level before each use, changing the oil every 50 hours, and replacing the air filter every 100 hours. Additionally, inspect belts and blades every 25 hours.
If the tractor won't start, check the battery connections for corrosion, ensure the fuel valve is open, and verify that the spark plug is functioning. Also, ensure safety switches are engaged.
Use SAE 10W-30 oil for temperatures above freezing. For temperatures consistently below freezing, SAE 5W-30 oil is recommended.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment lever on the right side of the tractor. Move it to the desired cutting position ranging from 1.5 to 4.5 inches.
Check the PTO switch and ensure it is in the 'Engaged' position. Inspect the PTO belt for wear or damage and replace it if necessary. Also, verify that all safety interlocks are functioning.
To change the drive belt, remove the mower deck, release belt tension using the idler pulley, and remove the old belt. Install the new belt following the diagram in the user manual, re-tension, and reattach the deck.
To winterize, clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, add fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank, and remove the battery for indoor storage. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
Use a tire pressure gauge to check the pressure, ensuring it is between 10-15 PSI for the rear tires and 12-16 PSI for the front tires. Inflate or deflate as necessary.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced blades, loose hardware, or damaged components. Check and balance the blades, tighten all fasteners, and inspect for any damaged parts.
