To thread the Dürkopp Adler 744-122, start by placing the spool on the spool pin. Guide the thread through the thread guide at the top, then down to the tension discs. Pull the thread up through the take-up lever and down again to the needle. Ensure the thread is securely in the needle eye from front to back.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the machine after each use, oiling the moving parts as specified in the manual, checking the needle for damage, and ensuring all screws are tight. Additionally, replace the needle regularly to maintain optimal performance.
First, check if the machine is threaded correctly and the bobbin is wound evenly. Adjust the tension dial gradually while testing on a fabric scrap. If problems persist, consult the user manual for specific tension settings or seek professional servicing.
Ensure you are using the correct needle type and size for your fabric. Check for any obstructions or burrs in the needle plate. Also, verify that the needle is inserted correctly and is not bent or damaged.
To change the needle, first turn off the machine. Loosen the needle clamp screw and remove the old needle. Insert the new needle with the flat side facing the correct direction as per the manual. Tighten the needle clamp screw securely.
Check if the needle is bent, dull, or incorrectly installed. Ensure the machine is threaded properly and the tension settings are correct. Use the correct needle and thread combination for the fabric being sewn.
Adjust the stitch length by turning the stitch length dial located on the front of the machine. Refer to the manual for recommended settings based on your fabric type and desired stitch length.
Puckering can be caused by incorrect tension settings, an inappropriate needle or thread for the fabric, or pulling on the fabric while sewing. Ensure that all settings are adjusted according to the fabric type and allow the machine to feed the fabric naturally.
Turn off the machine and unplug it. Remove lint and dust using a small brush or compressed air. Apply a few drops of sewing machine oil to the moving parts as specified in the manual. Be sure to wipe off any excess oil before using the machine.
Stop using the machine immediately. Check for any obstructions or tangled threads. Ensure that all screws and parts are secure. If the noise persists, consult a professional technician to inspect the motor and internal components.
