To thread the machine, start by placing the spool on the spool pin. Guide the thread through the upper thread guide, down to the tension discs, around the take-up lever, and finally through the needle. Refer to the user manual for detailed diagrams.
Check if the needle is bent or blunt and replace it if necessary. Ensure the needle is correctly inserted and that the thread is of appropriate quality. Also, verify the tension settings are correct according to the fabric being used.
Regularly clean the machine by removing lint and dust, especially in the bobbin area. Oil the machine as recommended in the manual, and have it serviced professionally at least once a year.
Stop using the machine immediately and check for any obstructions or jammed fabric. Ensure all screws are tightened and parts are well lubricated. If the noise persists, consult a professional technician.
Locate the tension adjustment dial on the machine. Turn it clockwise to increase tension and counterclockwise to decrease it. Test on a fabric scrap to ensure the stitches are balanced.
Use high-quality needles compatible with the fabric you are sewing. For heavy fabrics, opt for a thicker needle and thread, while fine fabrics require a finer needle and thread. Refer to the manual for specific recommendations.
Ensure the fabric is properly aligned and not stretched while sewing. Adjust the tension settings and use an appropriate needle and thread for the fabric type. A walking foot may also help in reducing puckering.
Re-thread the upper thread and bobbin, ensuring they are correctly placed. Check needle positioning and replace the needle if it is damaged. If the issue persists, inspect the bobbin case for any obstructions.
Raise the needle to its highest position and lift the presser foot lever. Loosen the screw that holds the presser foot in place, remove it, and attach the new presser foot. Tighten the screw to secure it.
Ensure the feed dogs are engaged and not set to the "down" position. Check that the presser foot pressure is appropriate for the fabric thickness. Clean the feed dogs of any lint or debris that might be obstructing them.
