To thread the machine, start by placing the spool on the spool pin. Pull the thread through the thread guide, then down to the tension discs. Continue threading through the take-up lever and down to the needle. Refer to the manual for detailed threading diagrams.
If the machine skips stitches, check if the needle is correctly inserted and not bent. Also, ensure that you are using the correct needle and thread for your fabric. Re-thread the machine and check for any obstructions in the bobbin area.
To adjust the tension, use the tension dial located on the front of the machine. Turn it clockwise to increase tension and counterclockwise to decrease it. Test on a scrap piece of fabric to ensure the stitches are balanced.
Unusual noises may indicate a need for maintenance. Check for any loose screws or parts, and ensure that the machine is properly oiled. Refer to the manual for maintenance guidelines or consult a professional technician.
It is recommended to oil your sewing machine after every 40 hours of use. Use high-quality sewing machine oil and apply it following the points outlined in the user manual.
To clean the machine, turn it off and unplug it. Use a small brush to remove lint and dust from the feed dogs, bobbin case, and other accessible areas. Avoid using compressed air as it can push debris further into the machine.
Thread bunching, or "bird nesting," can result from incorrect threading or tension settings. Re-thread the machine, ensuring the thread is seated properly in the tension discs. Also, check that the bobbin is correctly placed in its case.
Use a smaller needle size (70/10) for lightweight fabrics like silk, and a larger needle size (90/14) for heavier fabrics like denim. Always match the needle size to the thickness of your fabric for optimal sewing results.
To replace the needle, turn off the machine and raise the needle bar to its highest position. Loosen the needle clamp screw and remove the old needle. Insert a new needle with the flat side facing the back, then tighten the clamp screw securely.
If the fabric is not feeding correctly, check that the feed dogs are raised. Ensure the presser foot is applied with adequate pressure. Also, verify that the stitch length setting is appropriate for the fabric being used.
