To thread the Dürkopp Adler 370, first raise the presser foot and turn the handwheel towards you to raise the needle to its highest position. Place the spool of thread on the spool pin and guide the thread through the thread guide. Follow the threading path as indicated in the machine’s user manual, ensuring the thread passes through the tension discs and take-up lever. Finally, thread the needle from front to back.
If the machine is skipping stitches, ensure the needle is correctly inserted and not bent or damaged. Check if the thread is threaded properly and that the tension is adjusted correctly. Also, make sure you are using the correct needle and thread combination for your fabric.
To adjust the tension, locate the tension adjustment dial on the machine. Turn the dial clockwise to increase tension and counterclockwise to decrease it. Test on a scrap piece of fabric to ensure the stitches are balanced.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the machine to remove lint and dust, oiling according to the user manual, and checking for any loose screws. It’s recommended to have the machine serviced by a professional annually.
Ensure the bobbin is correctly placed in the bobbin winder and that the thread is properly threaded through the tension spring. Make sure the bobbin winder is engaged and the spool of thread is positioned to feed smoothly.
Unusual noises may be caused by a lack of lubrication, incorrect threading, or a bent needle. Check for any obstructions in the bobbin area and ensure all components are properly aligned and tightened.
To change the needle, turn off the machine and raise the needle to its highest position. Loosen the needle clamp screw and remove the old needle. Insert a new needle with the flat side facing the back, then tighten the needle clamp screw securely.
Ensure the feed dogs are raised and not obstructed by lint or debris. Check that the presser foot is down and is appropriate for the fabric type. Adjust the presser foot pressure if necessary.
Refer to the user manual for instructions on performing a factory reset, as it typically involves accessing the machine's settings menu. If unsure, consulting a professional technician is advised.
Common causes of thread breakage include incorrect threading, improper tension settings, a damaged needle, or using the wrong type of thread for the fabric. Ensure all components are correctly set up and compatible.
