To install the Davis Windscoop 291 Sail, attach the top of the Windscoop to a halyard and hoist it up the hatch. Ensure the bottom is secured around the hatch opening to maximize airflow. Make adjustments for optimal catch and stability.
The Windscoop performs best in light to moderate winds. It is designed to funnel airflow into your cabin, providing excellent ventilation during calm to breezy conditions. Avoid using in high winds to prevent damage.
To clean the Windscoop, rinse it with fresh water and allow it to dry completely before storage. Inspect it regularly for tears or damage, especially around the seams, and repair any issues promptly to ensure longevity.
The Windscoop is compatible with most standard boat hatches. However, for non-standard sizes, adjustments might be necessary to secure the scoop effectively and ensure optimal performance.
Check for obstructions in the airflow path, ensure the scoop is fully open, and adjust the angle to catch the wind more effectively. Verify that the scoop is properly secured to prevent sagging.
The Windscoop can be used in light rain, but it is not waterproof. In heavy rain, it is advisable to remove the Windscoop to prevent water ingress into the cabin.
After cleaning and drying, fold the Windscoop neatly and store it in a dry, cool place. Avoid sharp folds that could damage the material over time. Use the original storage bag if available.
The Windscoop is typically made from durable, lightweight polyester fabric, which is UV-resistant and designed to withstand marine environments.
It is not recommended to use the Windscoop while sailing due to changes in wind direction and speed, which can destabilize the scoop. It is best used when anchored or docked.
Consider the size of your boat's hatch and the typical weather conditions you experience. Ensure it is compatible with your hatch dimensions and suited for the ventilation needs of your cabin.
