To set up the Clarke WB200 Water Butt, first choose a suitable location on level ground. Unpack the barrel and unfold it. Assemble the support frame by interlocking the support rods. Insert the support rods into the sleeves of the barrel. Finally, attach the tap at the bottom of the barrel and secure the lid.
If the water butt is leaking, first check the tap and any connections for tightness. Ensure the support rods are correctly inserted to maintain the shape. Inspect the barrel for any visible punctures or tears, and use a repair kit if necessary.
To clean the water butt, first drain all the water. Use a mild detergent and a soft brush to scrub the interior surfaces. Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove any soap residue. Ensure the tap is also cleaned to prevent any blockages.
It is not recommended to use the water butt in freezing temperatures as the water can freeze and expand, potentially damaging the barrel. It is advisable to empty and store the butt indoors during winter months.
To maintain good water quality, regularly clean the barrel and ensure debris does not enter from the guttering system. Use a lid to prevent contamination from leaves and insects. Consider adding a water treatment tablet to prevent algae growth.
To connect a downpipe, use a rainwater diverter kit. Cut a section of the downpipe and insert the diverter, connecting the outlet hose to the water butt. Ensure the diverter is properly positioned to allow excess water to bypass once the butt is full.
Check the water butt every few weeks to ensure it is clean and free of blockages. Inspect the tap and seals for leaks, and clean the exterior surface to remove any dirt or algae. Regular maintenance will prolong the life of the barrel.
Water collected in the WB200 is not recommended for drinking as it may contain contaminants from the roof or guttering system. It is suitable for garden use and non-potable applications.
To maximize the lifespan, ensure proper installation and regular maintenance. Keep the barrel clean and shielded from extreme weather conditions. Store indoors during freezing temperatures to prevent damage.
If the water butt collapses, check the support rods for correct placement. Ensure the ground is level and the barrel is not overfilled. Reassemble the frame if necessary and refill cautiously to maintain the shape.
