To change the oil, first run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up. Then, turn off the engine and remove the oil drain plug. Allow the old oil to completely drain into a suitable container. Replace the drain plug and fill with new oil, checking the level with the dipstick.
Check the battery connections to ensure they are clean and tight. Examine the fuel level and ensure fuel is fresh. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Verify the safety switches are engaged.
Regularly inspect the blades for sharpness and damage. Sharpen or replace blades as necessary. Ensure the blades are balanced to prevent vibrations. Regularly clean the underside of the mower deck to prevent grass build-up.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent engine damage.
Consider using tire chains for better traction. Ensure your tires are properly inflated and consider adding rear weight or wheel weights for improved stability.
Replace the air filter every 100 hours of operation or once a season, whichever comes first. Check more frequently if operating in dusty conditions.
Turn off the engine immediately and allow it to cool. Check for debris blocking the cooling fins and clean if necessary. Verify the oil level is correct and that the cooling system is functioning properly.
Check that the mower deck is level and adjust if necessary. Inspect the blades for sharpness and damage. Ensure the tire pressure is equal on all sides and adjust if needed.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, including the underside of the deck. Change the oil and add a fuel stabilizer to the tank. Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
To engage the PTO, ensure the tractor is at a low idle speed. Slowly move the PTO lever to the engage position. Increase the throttle to the desired operating speed. Always engage the PTO at low RPM to reduce wear on the components.
