To start a fire, place crumpled newspaper and kindling wood on the grate. Open the air vents fully to allow maximum airflow. Light the newspaper and add larger logs gradually as the fire establishes.
Use seasoned hardwoods such as oak, maple, or birch. These woods burn hotter and longer, providing better heat efficiency and less creosote buildup.
It is recommended to clean the chimney at least once a year or after every two cords of wood burned to prevent creosote buildup and ensure safety.
Check that the air vents are open and the chimney is not blocked. Ensure proper draft by preheating the flue with a small fire before adding more wood.
Use well-seasoned wood, maintain a hot fire, and ensure the air vents are adjusted correctly. Regularly clean the stove and chimney to maintain efficient airflow.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the glass door, checking and cleaning the air vents, inspecting the seals and gaskets, and removing ash buildup.
Use dry, seasoned wood and maintain a hot fire. Ensure the airwash system is functioning, which helps keep the glass clean by directing air over it.
Seasoned wood has lower moisture content, which burns more efficiently and produces less creosote, reducing the risk of chimney fires and improving heat output.
Open the air vents fully when starting a fire. Once the fire is established, adjust the vents to control the burn rate and maintain desired temperature.
Ensure the chimney is clean and free of obstructions. Check for sufficient ventilation in the room and preheat the flue before starting a fire to improve draft.
