To set up the game, shuffle the deck of cards and deal seven cards to each player. Place the remaining cards face down to form a draw pile. Flip the top card of the draw pile to start the discard pile. The player to the left of the dealer begins the game.
The objective of the game is to be the first player to score 500 points. Players earn points by being the first to get rid of all their cards in each round. Points are scored based on the cards remaining in the opponents' hands.
If the draw pile runs out of cards, shuffle the discard pile to create a new draw pile. Continue play as normal.
Action cards include "Skip," "Reverse," "Draw Two," and "Wild" cards. "Skip" skips the next player's turn, "Reverse" changes the direction of play, "Draw Two" forces the next player to draw two cards and forfeit their turn, and "Wild" allows the player to change the color being played.
If a player forgets to say "UNO" and another player catches them before the next player takes a turn, the player must draw two cards as a penalty. If not caught in time, no penalty is applied.
To win a round, be the first player to play all of your cards. The remaining players then total the face value of the cards left in their hands, which are added to the winner's score.
Consult the official rule booklet included with the game for clarification. If disagreements persist, agree on house rules before starting the game to ensure everyone is on the same page.
Store the cards in a cool, dry place to prevent damage. Consider using card sleeves for additional protection. Keep the cards in their original box to avoid loss or damage.
Yes, players can introduce variations such as stacking "Draw Two" or "Draw Four" cards, or implementing a "7-0" rule where playing a '7' card allows a player to swap hands with another player, and a '0' rotates hands in the direction of play.
The game is best played with 2 to 10 players. More players can increase the game's complexity and fun but may also extend the duration of each round.
