To start a game of UNO, shuffle the deck and deal seven cards to each player. Place the remaining deck face down to form a draw pile. Turn over the top card to start the discard pile. The player to the dealer's left begins the game.
If the draw pile runs out, shuffle the discard pile (except the top card) to form a new draw pile and continue playing.
A Wild card can be played at any time and allows the player to choose the color that continues play. The player announces their chosen color to the other players.
If a player suspects a Draw Four Wild card was played illegally, they can challenge the player who used it. If the challenged player is guilty, they must draw four cards instead. If not, the challenger draws six cards.
To maintain the cards, store them in a cool, dry place and consider using card sleeves to protect them from wear and tear. Avoid bending or shuffling too aggressively.
If a card is missing, contact Mattel customer service for a replacement or consider purchasing a new deck if necessary. It’s also helpful to check the play area thoroughly.
While UNO is typically played with 2 to 10 players, you can combine two decks for larger groups. This may require adjusting the rules slightly to accommodate more players.
The game ends when a player has played all their cards, and points are calculated based on the remaining cards in the other players' hands. The first player to reach 500 points wins the game.
If two players shout "UNO" simultaneously, the player whose turn is next is considered to have the priority. The other player should follow the normal penalty rules if caught.
To resolve disputes, consult the official UNO rulebook included with the game. For ongoing issues, players can agree on house rules before starting the game to ensure clarity.
