To start the Toro PT21 22159 Mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the throttle is set to 'fast', and the blade control lever is engaged. Then, pull the starter rope briskly.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 40°F and 10W-30 for temperatures below 40°F. Be sure to check the oil level before each use.
Clean the air filter every 25 operating hours or once a season. Replace it if it is damaged or very dirty.
To sharpen the mower blade, first, remove it from the mower. Use a file or a grinding wheel to sharpen the cutting edge, maintaining the original angle. Balance the blade before reinstalling it.
If the mower won't start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected properly, and verify that the air filter is clean. Also, make sure the safety features are engaged.
To improve cutting performance, keep the blade sharp, mow when the grass is dry, and avoid cutting more than one-third of the grass height in a single pass.
Excessive vibration may be caused by an unbalanced blade, loose parts, or debris. Check for these issues, tighten any loose parts, and clean the mower deck.
To winterize the mower, run the engine until it stops from lack of fuel, change the oil, clean the mower thoroughly, and store it in a dry location.
At the start of the season, change the oil, sharpen the blade, clean or replace the air filter, and inspect the spark plug for wear and proper gap.
Adjust the cutting height by shifting the height adjustment lever located on each wheel to the desired position, ensuring all four wheels are set to the same height.
