To install the Thule Sidekick, first ensure your vehicle has a compatible roof rack system. Position the cargo box on top of the roof rack and align the brackets with the crossbars. Secure the box using the U-bolts and tighten the knobs inside the box to lock it in place. Ensure it's stable before loading.
The Thule Sidekick has a maximum load capacity of 75 lbs (34 kg). It is important not to exceed this limit to ensure safe operation and prevent damage to the roof box or vehicle.
Regular maintenance of the Thule Sidekick includes cleaning it with mild soap and water, checking and tightening all fasteners, lubricating locks if necessary, and storing it in a cool, dry place when not in use to avoid UV damage.
If the lock on your Thule Sidekick isn't working, first check for debris or dirt in the lock mechanism. Clean it with compressed air and lubricate with graphite powder. If the problem persists, contact Thule customer support for a replacement lock or further assistance.
The Thule Sidekick is designed to fit most vehicles with a roof rack system. However, it is essential to check the compatibility of the roof rack crossbars with the mounting hardware of the Sidekick before installation.
Ensure the Thule Sidekick is securely attached by checking that all U-bolts and knobs are tightened properly. After installation, test the stability of the box by shaking it gently. It should remain firmly in place without excessive movement.
The Thule Sidekick measures approximately 54 inches in length, 25 inches in width, and 15.5 inches in height, providing ample space for various types of gear and equipment.
When loading items into the Thule Sidekick, distribute the weight evenly, placing heavier items in the center and lighter items towards the edges. Secure the load with straps if necessary to prevent movement during transit.
It is not recommended to drive through a car wash with the Thule Sidekick installed, as the high pressure and mechanical brushes can damage the cargo box and its mounting hardware. Remove the Sidekick before entering a car wash.
If your Thule Sidekick makes noise while driving, check that all mounting hardware is tight and that the box is not loose. Wind noise can also be reduced by ensuring the box is properly aligned and streamlined with the vehicle.
