To install the Thule Raceway 9002, first open the trunk or hatch. Align the carrier's upper arm with the top edge of your vehicle's trunk. Secure the top hooks to the upper edge, adjust the lower arm so it rests against the lower portion of the trunk, and attach the bottom hooks. Tighten the FitDial knobs to secure the carrier in place.
If the straps loosen, stop as soon as safely possible and retighten them using the FitDial knobs. Ensure all hooks are securely attached and the carrier is stable before continuing your journey. Regularly check the tension of the straps during long trips.
First, position each bike within the carrier arms. Use the cradle straps to secure the bike's frame to the carrier. For added stability, use the integrated cable lock to secure the bikes to the carrier. Double-check that all straps and locks are tight before driving.
Regularly inspect the carrier for wear and tear, especially the straps and hooks. Clean the carrier with mild soap and water to remove dirt and debris. Lubricate any moving parts periodically to ensure smooth operation. Store the carrier in a dry place when not in use.
Check if the FitDial settings are correctly adjusted for your vehicle model by referring to the Thule Fit Guide. Ensure the carrier arms are positioned correctly and the straps are properly attached. If the problem persists, contact Thule customer support for assistance.
Clean the vehicle's surface and carrier contact points before installation to remove dirt that could cause scratches. Consider using protective pads or applying a protective film on the vehicle where the carrier makes contact.
It is not recommended to open the trunk or hatch with the carrier installed, as it may damage the vehicle or the carrier. Always remove the carrier before accessing the trunk.
Check for any debris or obstruction in the lock and clean it if necessary. Lubricate the lock with an appropriate lubricant. If the lock is still not functioning, consult Thule customer support for further assistance.
To remove the carrier, release the tension on the straps by turning the FitDial knobs counterclockwise. Detach the hooks from the vehicle edges, and carefully lift the carrier away from the vehicle to avoid scratches. Store the carrier in a safe place.
In extreme weather, ensure that all components are securely fastened, as strong winds can affect stability. Regularly check the carrier and bikes for ice accumulation in cold conditions. Avoid using the carrier in severe weather to prevent damage.
