To install the Thule Hullavator Pro 898, ensure you have the correct crossbars with a minimum spread of 24 inches. Follow the installation manual to attach the Hullavator to the crossbars securely, making sure all bolts are tightened properly.
Regularly inspect the Hullavator for any signs of wear or damage. Lubricate the gas struts and pivot points to ensure smooth operation. Check all bolts and connections periodically to ensure they remain secure.
First, check for any obstructions or debris in the mechanism. Ensure that the gas struts are properly lubricated and functioning. If the problem persists, inspect for any bent or damaged parts and replace them if necessary.
The Hullavator Pro 898 can accommodate most kayaks up to 36 inches wide and weighing up to 75 pounds. Verify the dimensions and weight of your kayak to ensure compatibility.
Lower the arms to the side of your vehicle, load the kayak onto the cradles, secure it with the provided straps, and then lift the arms back to the roof position. Ensure the kayak is centered and balanced.
Adjust the width of the cradles to fit the kayak snugly. Use the adjustable straps to secure different kayak sizes, ensuring they are tightly fastened to prevent movement during transport.
Cold temperatures can affect the gas struts. Ensure they are clean and lubricated. If stiffness persists, consider storing the Hullavator in a warmer environment when not in use, or replacing the struts if necessary.
The Hullavator Pro 898 is designed for one kayak at a time. For multiple kayaks, you will need additional carriers and crossbars capable of supporting the extra weight and width.
Check that the Hullavator arms are fully raised and locked into position. Verify all straps and attachments are tight and secure before driving. Regularly inspect the system during long trips.
Inspect the Hullavator for any loose parts or bolts. Tighten any loose components and apply lubrication to moving parts. If noise persists, examine for any worn or damaged parts and replace them if necessary.
