To install the Thule Glide and Set 883, first attach the Glide saddles at the rear crossbar and the Set saddles on the front crossbar of your roof rack. Ensure both are securely tightened and aligned properly to support your kayak.
The Thule Glide and Set 883 can support kayaks weighing up to 75 pounds. Ensure your kayak does not exceed this limit for safe transport.
The Thule Glide and Set 883 is compatible with most Thule rack systems, round bars, and factory-installed crossbars. Check your roof rack's specifications for compatibility.
Adjust the saddles by loosening the knobs and sliding them along the crossbars to fit the width of your kayak. Securely tighten the knobs once the correct position is achieved.
Regularly check all screws and knobs for tightness and inspect the saddles for wear or damage. Clean with mild soap and water to remove dirt and debris.
Ensure that all components are tightly secured to the crossbars and that the kayak is properly strapped down. Use additional padding if necessary to minimize movement and noise.
Use the rear Glide saddles to slide the kayak onto the roof. Ensure the kayak is centered and balanced, then secure it with the provided straps over the top and through the vehicle's crossbars.
Check that the kayak and all carrier components are securely fastened. Avoid high speeds and be cautious when driving under low-clearance areas and in high winds.
Do not use the carrier if any parts are damaged. Contact Thule customer service for replacement parts to ensure safety and functionality.
Remove the carrier from the vehicle, clean it, and store it in a cool, dry place. Keep it away from direct sunlight to prevent material degradation.
