To install the Thule Gateway 9006, first open the rack arms and position the rack on the vehicle's rear hatch. Adjust the fit dial to secure it snugly. Attach the top and bottom straps to the vehicle, ensuring they are tightly fastened. Adjust the cradle arms to the appropriate position for your bike.
If the Thule Gateway 9006 is not fitting properly, check if the fit dial is adjusted correctly for your vehicle. Ensure that all straps are securely fastened and recheck the installation guide for any specific adjustments needed for your car model.
Regular maintenance includes checking the straps and buckles for wear and tear, cleaning the rack with mild soap and water, and storing it in a dry place when not in use. Lubricate any moving parts with silicone spray to prevent rusting.
The Thule Gateway 9006 is designed to carry up to two bikes. Attempting to carry more than the specified limit may compromise safety and stability. Consider using a different model if you need to carry more bikes.
If the straps are damaged, replace them immediately to prevent accidents. Contact Thule customer support or an authorized dealer to purchase replacement straps compatible with the Gateway 9006 model.
To adjust the bike cradles, loosen the knob under each cradle. Slide the cradle to the desired position along the arm and tighten the knob to secure it in place. Ensure the cradle is positioned to support the bike frame properly.
The Thule Gateway 9006 may not be suitable for vehicles with spoilers, as it can interfere with the rack's contact points. Consult the Thule fit guide or contact their support to confirm compatibility with your specific vehicle model.
The Thule Gateway 9006 has a maximum weight capacity of 70 pounds, with each bike not exceeding 35 pounds. Ensure you do not surpass this limit to maintain safe operation.
To protect your vehicle's paint, clean the contact areas on both the vehicle and rack before installation. Use protective padding on the rack's contact points and avoid over-tightening the straps, which could cause scratches or dents.
While the Thule Gateway 9006 does not come with built-in locks, you can use a cable lock to secure the bikes to the rack and vehicle. Thread the cable through the bike frames and the rack to deter theft.
