To thread the Singer One Plus sewing machine, first turn off the machine and raise the presser foot. Place a spool of thread on the spool pin and draw the thread through the thread guide. Follow the threading path indicated on the machine, passing the thread through the tension discs, take-up lever, and finally through the needle.
If the needle keeps breaking, ensure you are using the correct needle size and type for your fabric. Check that the needle is inserted correctly and fully tightened. Verify that the needle is not bent or dull and that you are using the correct thread tension.
Regular maintenance includes dusting the machine with a soft brush and cleaning the bobbin area with a lint brush. Apply sewing machine oil to the manual-recommended points, and make sure to remove any thread or fabric debris. It's advisable to have the machine professionally serviced annually.
Uneven stitches can be caused by incorrect thread tension, improper threading, or a dull needle. Ensure the machine is threaded correctly, check and adjust the thread tension, and replace the needle if necessary. Using the appropriate thread and fabric type can also help.
To select different stitches, use the stitch selector dial or button on the control panel. The machine’s LCD screen will display the selected stitch pattern. Adjust the stitch length and width as needed using the corresponding controls.
Ensure that the feed dogs are engaged and clean of any lint or threads. Check to see if the presser foot is down and using the correct pressure setting. Adjust the presser foot pressure if needed and ensure the fabric is positioned correctly.
To adjust the tension, use the tension dial located on the front of the machine. For general sewing, a setting between 3 and 5 is recommended. Adjust the tension and test on a scrap of fabric until the stitches appear balanced.
A loud noise can be caused by a lack of lubrication, lint buildup, or a bent needle. Clean the machine, particularly around the bobbin area, and oil it according to the instructions. Replace the needle if it’s bent or dull.
To wind the bobbin, place an empty bobbin on the bobbin winder spindle. Thread the machine as instructed for bobbin winding and push the spindle to the right. Hold the thread end and start the machine. The bobbin will stop automatically when it’s full.
Skipping stitches often result from a dull or incorrectly inserted needle. Replace the needle and ensure it is compatible with your fabric. Check the threading path, and rethread the machine if necessary. Adjust the tension if the problem persists.
