To thread the Singer M2100, start by raising the presser foot and turning the handwheel towards you to raise the needle to its highest position. Place the spool of thread on the spool pin and follow the threading path indicated on the machine, passing the thread through the thread guides and the take-up lever. Finally, thread the needle from front to back.
First, ensure the machine is threaded correctly and that the bobbin is inserted properly. Adjust the tension dial gradually while testing on a scrap fabric. If issues persist, clean the machine to remove lint and debris, which can affect tension.
Check that the needle is correctly installed with the flat side facing the back. Ensure it is the correct size and type for the fabric being used. Also, inspect for any damage to the needle plate or presser foot that might cause the needle to hit them.
Turn off and unplug the machine before cleaning. Use a small brush to remove lint and dust from the bobbin area and feed dogs. Wipe the exterior with a soft cloth. Oil the machine as per the manual's instructions, typically in the hook race area.
Turn off the machine and use the handwheel to raise the needle to its highest position. Loosen the needle clamp screw and remove the old needle. Insert a new needle with the flat side facing the back, then tighten the needle clamp screw securely.
To adjust the stitch length, locate the stitch length dial on the machine. Turn the dial to select the desired length, using the numbers as a guide. A higher number results in a longer stitch, while a lower number shortens the stitch.
Ensure the presser foot is lowered and that the feed dogs are engaged. Check if the stitch length is set too low, as this can prevent fabric movement. Also, verify that the machine is threaded correctly and that there are no obstructions under the presser foot.
Raise the needle and presser foot, then press the presser foot release lever to remove the current foot. Position the new presser foot under the holder and lower the presser foot lifter to snap it into place.
First, stop sewing and turn off the machine. Check for any tangled threads or lint build-up in the bobbin area. Make sure the needle is not bent and is installed correctly. If the noise persists, consider having the machine serviced by a professional technician.
Place the thread spool on the spool pin and pass the thread through the bobbin winding guide. Insert the thread end through the bobbin hole and place the bobbin on the winder spindle. Push the spindle to the right to engage, then hold the thread tail and start the machine to wind the bobbin. Cut the thread when enough is wound.
