To thread the Singer 319K, first raise the presser foot to release the tension discs. Place the spool on the spool pin and guide the thread through the upper thread guide, then down through the tension discs. Continue threading up through the take-up lever and finally thread the needle from front to back.
If your Singer 319K is skipping stitches, check that the needle is correctly installed and not bent. Also, ensure that you are using the correct type of needle and thread for your fabric. Re-thread the machine, making sure the thread is properly seated in the tension discs.
To adjust the tension, use the tension dial located on the front of the machine. For lighter fabrics, decrease the tension, and for heavier fabrics, increase it. Test on a scrap piece of fabric to ensure the stitches are balanced.
Needle breakage can be caused by using an incorrect needle size or type for your fabric. Ensure the needle is properly inserted and not bent. Also, check that the presser foot is attached correctly and that the fabric is not being forced through the machine.
To change the presser foot, raise the presser foot lever and lift the foot from the machine. Align the new foot with the presser foot holder and lower the presser foot lever until the foot snaps into place. Ensure it is securely attached before sewing.
Use sewing machine oil specifically formulated for sewing machines. Avoid using household oils as they can damage the machine. Apply a small amount of oil to the designated points as indicated in the machine's manual.
Regular maintenance involves cleaning the feed dogs, bobbin case, and surrounding areas with a small brush. Oil the machine as recommended. Always unplug the machine before cleaning and follow the maintenance schedule in the manual for best results.
A loud noise can indicate a lack of lubrication or that lint and debris are caught in the machine. Clean and oil the machine as per the instructions. Check for any loose screws or parts that might need tightening.
If experiencing tension issues, re-thread the machine completely. Ensure the thread is in the tension discs and the presser foot is down while threading. Adjust the tension dial gradually and test on a scrap fabric until the stitches appear balanced.
The Singer 319K can perform straight, zigzag, and decorative stitches. Use the stitch selector dial to choose the desired stitch. Adjust the stitch length and width using the respective dials according to the type of fabric and stitch required.
