To change the oil, warm up the engine, park the tractor on a level surface, and turn off the engine. Remove the oil drain plug and allow the oil to drain completely. Replace the drain plug and add new oil through the oil fill cap. Check the oil level with the dipstick and adjust as necessary.
Ensure the tractor is in neutral and the parking brake is engaged. Check that the battery connections are clean and tight. Verify there is fuel in the tank and the fuel valve is open. If the engine still won't start, inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if necessary.
Locate the cutting height adjustment lever on the tractor. Move the lever to the desired position to set the blade height. Make sure both sides are adjusted equally to ensure an even cut.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using ethanol blends with more than 10% ethanol content. Always use fresh fuel to prevent engine issues.
First, disengage the mower deck. Remove the belt guards and carefully slide the old belt off the pulleys. Install the new belt by routing it around the pulleys according to the diagram located on the mower deck. Reattach the belt guards and engage the mower deck.
Check the sidewall of the tires for the manufacturer's recommended tire pressure. Generally, front tires should be inflated to 14 psi and rear tires to 10 psi, but confirm with your tire specifications.
Perform regular maintenance every 25 hours of operation or at the beginning of each mowing season. This includes oil changes, air filter cleaning, blade sharpening, and checking tire pressure. Refer to the owner’s manual for a detailed maintenance schedule.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced or damaged blades, loose hardware, or worn pulleys. Inspect the blades for damage and balance them if necessary. Tighten any loose nuts or bolts and check the pulleys for wear.
To winterize the tractor, clean it thoroughly and run the engine to warm it up. Change the oil and replace the oil filter. Add a fuel stabilizer to the gas tank and run the engine for a few minutes to circulate it. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
Ensure the PTO (Power Take-Off) switch is engaged. Check the drive belt for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Inspect the PTO clutch and wiring for any signs of damage. If the problem persists, consult a service technician.
