To start the tractor, ensure the transmission is in neutral, engage the parking brake, set the throttle to half, and turn the ignition key to start. Release the key once the engine starts.
Regular maintenance tasks include checking the oil level, cleaning or replacing the air filter, inspecting the spark plug, checking tire pressure, and lubricating moving parts.
If the engine won't start, check the battery connections, ensure there's adequate fuel, inspect the spark plug, and verify that the safety switches are engaged properly.
To change the oil, run the engine to warm it up, turn off the engine, place a pan under the drain plug, remove the plug, and drain the old oil. Replace the plug, and refill with fresh oil up to the recommended level.
If the mower deck isn't engaging, check the PTO switch, inspect the drive belt for breaks or wear, and ensure the battery is charged. Also, inspect the electrical connections for corrosion or damage.
To adjust the cutting height, use the lever located near the seat to raise or lower the mower deck to the desired height setting. Make sure the tractor is on a flat surface when making adjustments.
For off-season storage, clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place, and cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
To address uneven cutting, check if the tire pressures are equal, inspect the mower blades for wear or damage, and ensure the deck is level. Adjust the deck if necessary.
The recommended fuel for the Regent EX Tractor is unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using fuel with more than 10% ethanol content.
To replace the drive belt, park the tractor on a flat surface, remove the mower deck, release the tension on the belt, and remove it from the pulleys. Install the new belt following the same path, and reattach the mower deck.
