To start the tractor, ensure that the brake is engaged and the PTO is turned off. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the 'Start' position. Release the key once the engine starts.
Use SAE 30 oil for summer temperatures above 40°F (4°C) or SAE 5W-30 for winter temperatures below 40°F (4°C). Always refer to the owner's manual for specific recommendations.
Check the battery connections and charge, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly gapped, and verify that the fuel is fresh. Also, make sure the safety features are not preventing startup.
Change the air filter every 25 hours of operation or at least once per season. Clean it more frequently if operating in dusty conditions.
First, disconnect the spark plug wire for safety. Remove the mower deck, then the blades. Sharpen the blades using a grinder or file, ensuring balance. Reinstall the blades and deck.
Use the height adjustment lever located on the right side of the tractor. Move the lever to the desired cutting height position, which ranges from 1.5 to 4 inches.
Regularly inspect the battery terminals for corrosion and clean them if necessary. Ensure the battery is charged, especially before winter storage. Check the electrolyte level if applicable.
Clean the tractor, change the oil, add a fuel stabilizer, remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place, and cover the tractor to protect it from the elements.
Use a tire pressure gauge to check that the tires are inflated to the recommended PSI, usually found in the owner's manual. Inflate or deflate the tires as needed.
Ensure the mower deck is level from side to side and front to back. Check the tire pressures and blade sharpness. Adjust the deck as necessary to achieve even cutting.
